The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Atiwa Kwawoma constituency, Kofi Amankwah Manu, has called on Ghanaians to adopt modern methods of farming in Ghana.
In his view, this will ensure that some of the challenges facing farmers including post-harvest losses will be dealt with.
He noted that although the NPP administration has done a lot in their constituency as far as agriculture is concerned, the government will need to do more to help develop the farming system.
Mr. Manu speaking on TV3’s New Day noted that farmers in Ghana, especially in constituency were relying on old method of framing.
He said ‘’Atiwa Kwawoma approximately has about 63% of people engaged in agriculture. It is an area we can easily go into large area farming where we can use modern equipment to improve the agricultural sector and that has not happened yet.’’
He further said there is the need for improvement in the way farming is done in Ghana because there has been evolution of agriculture all over the world.
‘’We need to change with time because time has changed. The constituency has areas about 502kilometers of land that we farm but then we still have a problem with new ways of improving our agricultural sector,” he said.
